ISCYRA Announces Venue for 2022 World Championship - 100 Years
The 100th years of the Star Class World Championships will be held next year September 8-17, 2022 in Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA. The host for the event will be the prestigious Eastern Yacht Club.

Dear participants of the Star World Championship 2021,
In the following letter we would like to give you further information about the World Championship 2021 in Kiel-Schilksee from 04.09.2021-11.09.2021. The realisation of the event in the current time requires of course also Corona specific measures, which can change at any time, for this we would like to ask for your understanding and compliance with the measures.
A touch of America’s Cup, Ocean Race and Olympics at Star World Championship
Top line-up at the Star World Championship in Kiel: leading yacht designer, Ocean Race Europe winner, European champion and Olympians at the start.
The Star Class World Championship returns to Kiel. After 1939, 1966, 1977 and 1993, the world's best keelboat sailors will compete in the state capital of Schleswig-Holstein to crown their world champions. Due to the postponement of Kiel Week to September 4-12, the World Championships (September 4-11) have been integrated into it and the Junior World Championships (August 31-September 3) have been docked in the run-up to it.
"We are very pleased to host the Star Class World Championship with us," said Head of Organization of the Kiel Week regattas and the Kiel Yacht-Club, Dirk Ramhorst. Most recently, former Star World President, DSV President and KYC Commodore Dierk Thomsen, who passed away in 2020, had brought a Star European Championship to Kiel. "It was his boat, his class, we will remember him at the event," Ramhorst said.
And Thomsen, who has repeatedly advocated the star boat as an Olympic class, would have been delighted with this world championship, because the participating sailors demonstrate the unique importance of the almost seven-meter-long two-handed keelboat: A touch of the America's Cup, Ocean Race and Olympics will blow through Schilksee when the currently registered 50 crews from 13 nations compete in Kiel.

In addition to our invitation to take part at the WM in Kiel we like to offer you some support for finding any kind of flat nearby our sailing area. Caused by the parallel taking place Kiel Week hotel prices have increased considerably.
Please contact us under hspehr@gmx.de if you like any help finding a room near the race location Schilksee. (Some have asked for in Laboe, because of a distance of 10 kms but to reach it by car it takes 45 to 60 minutes…)

Kiel, Germany to Host 2021 Star World Championship Regattas
Kiel has already hosted the Star Class World Championship four times (1939, 1966, 1977, 1993) and is the sailing city with annual Kiel Week and lots of other high ranked sail events over the last years. The Kieler Yacht Club and the Kiel fleet are again inviting all Star sailors to the U30 and World Championships in Kiel-Schilksee in 2021. The area is known to all sailors. It is demanding, surprising, and guarantees exciting regattas. Kiel will delight many sailors with its summer hospitality for the 98th World Championship of the Star Class. As an open U30 and World Championship, all sailors can compete with the world's best sailors. Where else is this more possible than in Kiel?
Our class takes center stage in 2021 from August 31st to September 3rd (U30) and from September 4th to September 11th (Worlds). These Championships are also in honor of our late President and great friend of the Star Class Dierk Thomsen who was also Commodore of the Kiel Yacht Club. He died on October 8, 2020.
